About Rang-e-Jamal
Rang-e-Jamal — colour of beauty — is the coloured-stone line. Sapphire, ruby, emerald, garnet, peridot, amethyst, citrine, turquoise, opal, topaz, tourmaline and aquamarine all appear here, set in gold mounts that are kept simple so the stone stays the subject. Some pieces use a single centre stone; others, like the chandelier earrings and the tirang necklace, deliberately mix three or more colours in one design.
Colour behaves differently from clear stones. A sapphire looks deepest in daylight, a ruby warms under indoor light, and an opal shifts as you move. Because of that, every coloured stone here is chosen for how it reads at arm's length rather than under a jeweller's loupe. Cabochon cuts — the smooth domed stones you will see on the turquoise and opal pieces — are used where a faceted cut would fight the colour.
Mounts are 18K and 21K gold. Bezels and closed backs are used for softer stones such as opal, turquoise and peridot, which need protection from knocks; harder stones like sapphire and ruby sit in open claws so light can pass through them. Weights run from about 4.6 grams for a single-stone ring to around 22 grams for the fully strung necklace.
Care is straightforward but worth knowing. Wipe coloured stones with a dry soft cloth, keep them away from perfume, chlorine and ultrasonic cleaners, and store opal and turquoise separately so harder stones do not scratch them. Emerald and opal in particular should never be soaked.
All prices are in US dollars. Each piece is hallmarked, weighed and photographed before listing, and ships with its certificate in insured, tracked packaging. If you want a specific stone colour matched to an outfit or another piece you own, send a photo before ordering and we will tell you what is realistic.
